The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Havasu National Wildlife Refuge (Refuge) will hold an Open House Listening Session on August 17 to accept written public comments on a draft recreational boating Compatibility Determination (CD).   The CD is currently available for public review and comment from August 1 to August 30, 2017.  Public participation in this process is important to ensure future recreational activities on the Refuge offer quality experiences for all visitors while meeting the purpose of the Refuge.

What:             Open House Informal Listening Session           Thursday, August 17, from Noon to 6:00 p.m.

Where:             Lancelot Room at the London Bridge Resort            1477 Queens Bay,            Lake Havasu City, Arizona

To be part of the record, comments must be in writing.  The public is invited to stop by anytime between Noon and 6:00 p.m.  U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service staff will be available to answer questions, provide clarifications, review maps and materials, and accept written comments.

“This informal open house format allows the public the flexibility to drop by anytime it is convenient for them,” stated Refuge Manager Richard Meyers. “They can talk directly with our staff and get their questions answered one-on-one. They also have the opportunity to leave their written comments with us, or send them to us later, if that is their preference.”

If you are unable to attend the Open House, or if you have additional comments you’d like considered, please send them to the following address. Written comments will be accepted through August 30. Send to:

All comments on the draft CD are considered public records. Anonymous and oral comments will not be considered.  The Service will take all submissions from individuals, organizations or businesses, and from individuals identifying themselves as representatives or officials of organizations or businesses, available for public inspection in their entirety.  Individual respondents may request that their names and addresses are withheld from the public record. If you wish to withhold your name and/or address, you must state that request prominently at the beginning of your comment. The Service will honor such requests to the extent allowed by law. Please note that due to public disclose requirements, the Service, if requested, may have to make the names and addresses of those who submit written comments public.
